While you may not be considering HyperStudio

(Your version may have slightly different controls & screens
but the functions are generally the same in each version.)

I. Getting Started

II. Working with PowerPoint and HyperStudio

When you create a presentation using PowerPoint, the presentation is made up of a series of slides.

Hyperstudio programs consist of stacks. All stacks are a group of cards.

AutoContent Wizard- takes you through the creation of a simple presentation step by step.

You can explore some Sample Projects by clicking the button.

In Media Library, you can find hundreds of "copyright-friendly" images and sounds which you can use in your presentation and project.

Template- PowerPoint provides 160 templates that you can choose from.

You'll learn tips about using HyperStudio in the Show Me How section.

To begin a new project, click New Stack.

Blank Presentation- this option allows you to select slides and format them individually.

You can share your finished projects in Sharing & Showing section.

To locate and open an existing HyperStudio stack, click Open Stack.

Understanding PowerPoint Views

PowerPoint gives you four views in which you create and organize your presentation. As you create a presentation, you can switch among the four views as you work.

Slide View

The Slide view shows a single slide. In Slide view, you work on one slide at at time.

Slide Sorter View

The Slide Sorter view shows you a miniature of each slide in your presentation.

Outline View

The Outline view shows all the titles and body text in your presentation.

Notes View

The Notes view lets you create speaker's notes.

In HyperStudio you can set the text font, color, size, Style, border, & scroll on a field and then copy the whole card or copy the text field to have the same attributes elsewhere in the stack.

 V. Other Tricks

PowerPoint

* Adding Transition in PowerPoint - A transition is a special effect used to introduce a slide during a slide show.

Timing a transition

* Adding Animation in PowerPoint- you can move objects linearly using menu choices.

PowerPoint can display animated gifs and present them with these effects.

* Making a Button in PowerPoint

* Adding Sounds in PowerPoint - Some present animations have sounds already built in. PowerPoint comes with some sounds, or you can insert your own from file (such as a sound effects CD).

* Adding Narration in PowerPoint - You will need a microphone to do this. PowerPoint has an audio record function for both narration or creating separate audio files.

PowerPoint can also play QuickTime Movies in desired locations. HyperStudio can also play QuickTime Movies directly on the screen or behind a graphics mask to enhance the content. The following is a comparison with:
