As new technology evolves or becomes more available the extension of the traditional classroom changes as well. The use of telecommunication media will create a learning community that will allow each student to control the time, place and pace of instruction while interacting with other students and the instructor. These media technologies such as electronic mail, computer conferencing, listservs and telnet are a part of these learning communities.

These new media technologies are changing classroom settings as we know it all over the world. As the need for distance learning increases so do nontraditional students who are on the move in internet cafes, airports or at their home.
